Some Japanese supermarkets like "Kanesue" have recently started requiring a 100-yen coin to use their shopping carts, so I've customized this to fit a 100-yen coin. (Thickness: 1.6mm Diameter of the 100-yen coin part: 22.5mm)

it gets returned. it is more like a deposit because so many people steal the carts. at least that is the reason I here in all the countries that I've been to that do it

The shopping cart actually requires this or a coin to be used. In China, it's not needed at all, because basically no one tries to steal shopping carts, and this kind of thing has no value for theft

it's not for stealing, it's for putting the cart back and not leaving it in the middle of the parking lot.

I see, but our merchants specifically hire people to organize their shopping carts, which is very convenient

I understand. the German grocery stores usually charge the quarter. the American grocery stores hire employees to get the carts.

Would’ve worked. At Aldi you switch out your carts with a cashier. So we don’t get the key back.
