Short Description
A modifiable shroud for inverted PC builds. The logo is rotatable and interchangeable! Perfect for making graphics cards white or correcting text alignment. Open source for everyone
--------------------------
📖 The Story: Why This Design? It all started with a new setup: I had to place my PC on the left side of my desk. That's why I bought a case that can be "inverted" (motherboard is upside down). The problem was: The text and RGB logo of my Gainward RTX 5080 were suddenly upside down! It just looked wrong
I looked everywhere for a solution but found nothing. So I decided: "I'll do it myself!" Although I was an absolute beginner in 3D design, I sat down, learned, and designed this shroud not only to make my graphics card white but also to solve the alignment problem
💡 The Solution: Rotatable & Interchangeable Logo What's special about this design is its modularity:
- Separate Logo Module: I separated the RGB lighting and text area from the rest of the shroud
- Inverted Ready: You can simply rotate the logo module 180 degrees so that the text is correctly oriented again in "inverted builds"
- Full Customization: Thanks to the included files, you can insert and print your own name or logo into the module
🤝 Open Source & Community I am making this project completely open source (incl. CAD files) available. I don't want anyone else to have to invest as much time as I did just to solve this specific problem
⚠️ A small note (Please read): As mentioned, I am still a beginner in 3D design and CAD
- Please be lenient if the dimensions deviate by a millimeter or are not 100% perfect in some places
- I did my best, but the design is "work in progress"
🏆 My Material Recommendation: PETG-GF
I printed the final design with PETG-GF (Glass Fiber-reinforced PETG). In my opinion, this is the absolute "game changer" for this project
Why this material?
- Invisible Layer Lines: The glass fibers in the filament create a rough, matte texture. This almost completely conceals the typical 3D print layer lines. The result looks like a professional injection-molded part from the factory – without any sanding or painting!
- Heat Resistance: Unlike regular PLA, this material easily withstands the high temperatures of the graphics card without deforming
(Alternatively, ABS or ASA also work, but PETG-GF is my favorite for the aesthetics.)
💬 Feedback Wanted! I would be thrilled if experienced designers would look at the files. If you have improvements, corrected dimensions, or created cool remixes for the logo: Please share them! Your feedback and remixes are very welcome so we can perfect the design together
Happy printing
⚠️ Disclaimer
Modifying a graphics card and using this 3D model is entirely at your own risk. I assume no liability for:
- Damage to hardware (graphics card, fan, PCB)
- Loss of manufacturer's warranty by removing the original cooler
- Temperature issues or overheating due to incorrect assembly or material choice
This project was created and tested by me as a hobbyist, but each user is responsible for its implementation
