Description

3D Printed Compressed Air Engine

This model is a mechanical compressed air engine fully designed for FDM 3D printing. The engine converts compressed air into rotational motion through a simple, high-speed internal mechanism. Once assembled correctly, it is capable of very high RPM and produces a distinct mechanical sound during operation.

The design prioritizes printability, ease of assembly, and durability, using standard metric hardware and 2 common 608 ball bearing for smooth rotation and reduced friction. All structural components are 3D printed, with metal hardware used only where strength and wear resistance are required.

This is an original design, created and tested specifically for hobbyist manufacturing using consumer-grade 3D printers.

Design Features

  • Fully mechanical (no electronics)
  • Optimized for FDM printing
  • Uses threaded inserts for strong, repeatable fastening
  • 2 608 bearing-supported rotating assembly
  • Designed for compressed air input

Required Tools

  • Hammer (for press-fitting components)
  • Soldering iron (optional, recommended for installing threaded inserts)
  • Sandpaper (for post-processing and tuning moving parts)

Required Hardware

  • 5 × 5mm  M3 threaded inserts(5 needed)
  • M3 × 10 mm screws(5 needed)
  • M3 washers(4 needed)
  • 2 × 608 ball bearing

Assembly & Performance Notes

  • Light sanding of mating and moving surfaces is recommended for optimal performance
  • Ensure correct bearing alignment to minimize friction
  • Start with low air pressure and gradually increase
  • Excessive pressure may cause premature wear or failure of printed parts

Intended Use

This model is intended for educational, experimental, and demonstration purposes. It is ideal for showcasing mechanical motion, compressed air principles, and 3D-printed mechanisms. If you like this please boost me it really helps. If enough people like it i will do one full printable, not extra parts needed.Happy Printing
