I’m getting ready for Valentine’s Day ❤️. I designed a fully 3D-printed advent calendar for this occasion, where you can put anything. I made this mechanical calendar using a latch operated by simple rubber bands. You have to see how satisfying it is to press the chest and watch it eject ✨. This advent calendar can be decorated and filled with any small items, such as earrings, rings, or candies 🍬.

The cost of time and material of the design:

  • Time = ~36h
  • Material = ~1.5kg

Components

The calendar consists of the following components:

  • 3 types of chests
  • Latch mechanism with rubber bands
  • Calendar box

Chests

The boxes are classified into 3 types according to size.

Their assembly is done by the base of the box numbered with numbers from 1-14 and the lid which can be long or short. A piece of simple filament is used as a hinge. The heart lock is mounted with 2 drops of glue.

Latch mechanism

The structure of latch mechanism are exposed bellow. You can use glue for mount push plate and rail stopper, but fist assurre that push plate are inserted right!!. Use a 40-50 mm rubber band to power this the latch

  1. Push plate(each type of chest have their type of plate)

  2. Rail lock  - block movement of push rail
  3. Push rail
  4. Latch base
  5. Rail lock lever(!!IMPORTANT lever should be from PETG )

After assembly all 14 latch mechanism, insert them into calendar box.

Calendar box

After inserting all the latch mechanisms into calendar box, also insert and back deck. Use small screws and key to mount mechanism and back deck together. Each mechanism have they own theread.

Printing Notes

Highly recommended to use PETG for rail lock lever.

If you not use Makerworld print profile for printig or Bambu Slicer, patterns on the frontal deck and back deck will missing. To selve that add these settings in your slicer.
