Description
Drill Accurate dogholes for an MFT style workbench. Create your own Parf guide style system for layout.
I couldn't justify spending nearly $300 just for a simple tool to layout dogholes. You can create your own system for around $25 using this guide.
Similar to the Parf system, you can layout and accurately drill 20mm dogholes with a 96mm spacing using aluminum yardsticks and simple trigonometry (Pythagoreum Theorem a2+b2=c2). Matt Estlea has a good video tutorial. The one extra step you will need to do is to drill your own 3mm holes in the yardstick using this model
Hardware that's necessary to buy:
(2) Aluminum Yardsticks - Menards and Walmart sell these for under ($3 each) you could use wood if you don't want to buy these, but you will want to make half laps at the ends so the wood can lay flat when doing the trigonometry.
(3) 3mm Drill Guides - I got these off Aliexpress (~$1 each)
(1) 20mm Forstener Bit - Amazon Link (~$7) If you did want to use ¾" dogholes you could do that instead, but you will need to print different spacers to fit into this jig.
(1) 3mm Drill Bit (pack of 6) - You'll need at least 5 drill bits to act as locator pins and hold the guide in place Amazon Link (~$6)
