Description

This energy display slider came about when an occupational therapist friend asked me to design one. It's function is to allow children and adults with Chronic Fatigue / Long covid / ME to be able to adequately display how much energy they have available. The slider is simple to operate, requires minimal effort to slide and maintains its position wether standing or laying down.

The biggest challenge in the design was the captive slider, which is printed in two parts - top and bottom. The top pressed on with a snug fit, no need for glue. It is captured in the rail and the tolerances are just tight enough to ensure the slider stays in place.

The coloured sections are printed individually, to alow for colour changes or pieces with text added for a more visual display.

The top and bottom fit together tightly using pressure bulges. A little bit of glue is reccomnded between these two pieces upon final assembly.

Size wise, the whole thing measures 7 x 3 inches, intentinally quite large to allow easy holding for small and large hands alike.

If you have any suggestions on how to improve the design I am more than happy for you to contact me.
