Description

This is a wearable interlocking brick Benny the spaceman helmet from the L Word movie.  Probably no one will find this, as you are not allowed to tag items with the L-Word.

It does fit me, and I have a large head, as you can see, but it is a bit short, so it may be better for kiddos.

For display purposes, I also created a crude face plate with a Benny expression. I had some black from the eyes and mouth bleeding into the yellow on those layers.  That could probably be fixed by increasing the purge between filament changes or by tipping the whole model back so the face is facing up.

Finally, I added a break in the helmet chin strap to be movie-accurate.  To get the offset shown in the photo, you will need to heat up the bottom with a heat gun and bend it up slightly while maintaining a bit of separation. Since I bent the chin strap, only 3 of the 4 magnetic connectors line up.

The seam on mine is visible on the front.  Unfortunately, I forgot to move it to the back, so I did do that before I uploaded this project file.  Finally, you might want to increase the wall loops to 3 or increase the infill slightly (25%) to eliminate the pitted effect on the top of the helmet.  I was just trying to make sure I would not run out of filament.

Here is a video of the build process.
