New and improved version of my popular P-38 Lightning scale model. This V2.0 update introduces significantly more detail for a high-fidelity look while remaining optimized for FDM printing.

Key Enhancements in this Version:

Separate Cockpit Canopy: Allows for easier painting or printing in a different color.
Nose-Mounted Guns: Featuring the iconic armament of the "Fork-Tailed Devil."
Wing-Mounted Drop Tanks: For a more authentic long-range fighter profile.

Dual-Color Canopy: This profile includes a pre-configured dual-color canopy for a stunning, realistic look straight off the build plate with zero waste.

🖨️ Printing Recommendations

Orientation: Use the provided orientation in the print profile to ensure the smoothest surface finish.
Material Tip: For that classic "Natural Metal" look, I highly recommend PLA Silk (Silver). It provides a sleek finish that makes layer lines virtually disappear.

⚠️ Assembly & Handling

Assembly: Use a small amount of Superglue for a permanent bond.
Pro Tip: Before gluing the roundel decals, gently bend them with your thumb to match the curvature of the fuselage for a perfect fit

this is one of my favorite models as it features high quality detail and historical accuracy and now with the new improvements to the print the guns and fuel tanks printed great adding to the detail overall

thanks for understanding, I look forward to the improvements I also will change my review afterwards plus I have an idea what if you integrated the canopy with the main body during printing like you did with the corsair

well I've actually made a model with the canopy integrated with the main body. you can see it in here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/901526-p-38-lightning-aircraft-model-scale-1-72#profileId-860634 it comes without the guns and the fuel tank

sized up by 50%, print the propellers slow. the little oil canisters I had to split in half and print as I just couldn’t get the round shape to adhear to the bed. great model.

Love it! Would recommend running at 50% for the guns and drop tanks, first try wasn't great with either but worked at 50%. Also used this as an opportunity to re do the props on my other one as they weren't that great and never got around to fixing them. Seriously need another shelf setup now though. 😆😭

the propellers failed, but i just glued them back together in their nose cap

Thank you for your feedback, the props are very delicate and treaky parts, and should be printed SLOWLY. removal of the supports also should be made very carefully using a thin knife and a cutter or pliers. I'm sorry to hear you had difficulties while trying to print it. I'll check if there is another tweaks I can make in print profile in order to print it easily

thanks for the reply. I printed this quickly using the the default settings that loaded in. I planned on eventually reprinting with my own more detailed profile at a bigger scale and with some model cuts to avoid all the support. I wish I could rate the print profiles and the models separately.
