Description

AH-6 Little Bird – 160th SOAR Collection

This AH-6 Little Bird is a high-detail scale display model intended for experienced makers who enjoy precision assembly, patience, and hands-on fabrication. While several parts include alignment features and locating pockets, this is not a snap-together kit—expect to test-fit, adjust, and work deliberately throughout the build.

The design prioritizes realism and fine detail over ease of assembly. If you enjoy model making, finishing work, and problem-solving at the bench, this build will be right up your alley.

⚠️ Skill Level & Expectations

  • This is a model maker build, not a beginner project
  • CA glue is required throughout the assembly
  • Dry fitting, light sanding, and minor trimming may be necessary
  • Some assemblies intentionally rely on the builder’s judgment rather than hard stops

Results may vary depending on printer calibration, material choice, slicer settings, and tuning. If your outcome differs slightly from mine, that’s normal—and part of the process with detailed scale models.

🪟 Window Fabrication (Important)

The cockpit windows are not printed and are instead formed from 0.040” (1 mm) PET sheet, using the included window trim tools. This process involves:

  • Heating PET sheet on a build plate
  • Thermoforming it over the printed compression molds
  • Trimming and sanding to achieve a clean, flush fit
  • Gluing only at the corners for best visual results

This step requires care and patience, and results can vary based on preparation and technique. Take your time here—the windows are one of the most visually prominent features of the model

🧰 General Notes

  • Designed for display (non-functional rotors)
  • Some subassemblies intentionally remain loose
  • Minor tolerance variation is expected across printers and materials
  • The build rewards slow, careful assembly

Happy building ✈️
