🔮 Energy Orb V2 – Smart Status Light for Home Assistant & WLED

Energy Orb V2 is a clean, modern smart status display that turns your Home Assistant data into instant, at-a-glance visual feedback using addressable RGB LEDs and WLED.

Instead of opening dashboards or apps, Energy Orb V2 shows you what’s happening in your home physically and intuitively — using colour.

✨ What Is It?

Energy Orb V2 is a 3D-printed desktop or shelf-mounted light bar with four illuminated columns:

  • Grid
  • Solar
  • Battery %
  • Home

Each column is powered by individually addressable LEDs, allowing it to change colour based on any sensor, value, or automation in Home Assistant.

⚠️ Despite the names on the model, this design is completely generic — the columns can represent anything.

🧠 What Can It Show?

You can map Energy Orb V2 to any Home Assistant sensor or event, for example:

  • Energy import / export
  • Solar generation
  • Battery state of charge
  • Home power usage
  • EV charging status
  • Temperature thresholds
  • Internet or server status
  • Phone notifications
  • Email alerts
  • Alarm states
  • Any numeric or binary sensor

If Home Assistant can see it — Energy Orb V2 can show it.

🎨 How It Works

  • Powered by an ESP32 running WLED
  • Uses WS2812B addressable LEDs
  • LEDs are split into segments, one per column
  • Home Assistant automations set each segment’s colour based on logic you define
  • Fully customisable colours, thresholds, and behaviour

Example:

  • Green = OK
  • Amber = Warning
  • Red = Alert
  • Off = Neutral / idle

⚠️ Electronics are not included — this is a printable enclosure + guide.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • You must save WLED presets or segments may reset on reboot
  • LED count must be set correctly (13 LEDs total)
  • Segment mapping matters — incorrect mapping will cause colours to appear in the wrong column
  • Instructions included to guide you step by step
