Description

Plantation Shutter Hinge Replacement (Snap-In Style)

This is a replacement hinge clip for plantation shutters, designed to replace the small plastic snap-in hinge that sits between the shutter panel and the front-facing frame piece.

These hinges tend to snap over time, and I couldn’t find a reliable place to buy replacements—so I designed my own in Tinkercad. This is my first 3D model, and while it’s not a perfect replica, it does the job well and restores full function to the shutter.

Printing Notes

  • Supports are required for this model
(I know they’re a bit annoying to remove, but they are necessary for strength and proper geometry.)
  • I recommend printing a few extras since these parts are small and easy to lose.
  • A light sanding on the circular hinge pin area helps ensure smooth movement once installed.

Material Recommendations

I tested several filaments, including:

  • PLA
  • PETG
  • PETG-CF
  • ASA

Surprisingly, PLA performed the best in real-world use—even better than PETG and ASA for this specific application.

Why I’m Sharing This

This was created purely as a hobby project to fix something in my own home. I’m not selling anything or looking for anything in return—just hoping this helps someone else who runs into the same broken-hinge problem.

If you do find it useful or make improvements, I’d genuinely love to hear about it. 🙂
