Description
This bust depicts Youssef Antoun Makhlouf, better known as Saint Charbel Makhlouf, a 19th-century Lebanese Maronite monk and a major spiritual figure of Eastern Christianity. It is inspired by the saint's most popular and widely recognized photograph, an iconic image that has profoundly shaped the collective imagination with his intense gaze and contemplative expression.

The sculpture adopts a restrained and respectful approach, faithful to the image of asceticism and humility that characterizes Saint Charbel Makhlouf. The volumes are intentionally emphasized, the facial features deeply etched, and the expression maintained in all its solemnity, without idealization or correction of natural asymmetries. This sculptural interpretation highlights the inner strength of the figure rather than ornamentation.

Designed as a 3D printed bust, this portrait pays homage to the life of prayer, silence, and devotion of Youssef Antoun Makhlouf, who after his death became a universal symbol of faith and hope.
