Description
Self tapping T-Nut that is stronger than versions with hex nuts or heat-set inserts
I designed this T-Nut after a few designs that used M2 nuts or heat-set inserts failed. On a part this small, there is not enough material to securely use an additional nut. The M2 screw are also less common and the small size doesn't provide enough bite.
Problems this design solves:
- I wanted to utilize the popular M3 screws (M3 x 16mm Screw)
- The non-threaded neck allows the screw to align perfectly before the threads bite.
- By only threading the beefy base of the nut, the narrow neck stays solid, serving its primary purpose: keeping the nut perfectly aligned in the open or closed position.
- Designed to be tapped directly by your M3 screw for a rock-solid, custom fit. I found that when trying to use a nut or heat-set insert, there was not enough material to secure the hardware.
