Confucius (Kǒng Fūzǐ) – Bust

🇫🇷 Description (French)

This bust depicts Confucius (Kǒng Fūzǐ), a major Chinese philosopher of Antiquity, whose thought profoundly influenced the culture, morals, and philosophy of East Asia for over two millennia. It is inspired by the most popular and widely diffused representation of Confucius, originating from traditional statues and portraits that shaped his image throughout history.

The interpretation adopts a classical sculptural approach, faithful to the logic of the traditional bust. The face is presented frontally, with a calm and thoughtful expression, evoking the wisdom and restraint associated with Confucian teaching. The distinctive features — the broad forehead, heavy eyelids, long and structured beard, as well as the traditional hairstyle — are deliberately simplified while remaining strongly marked, in order to favor the reading of volumes and the strength of the character.

The planes of the face are sharp and well-defined, with deep hollows and firm sculpted lines, ensuring excellent readability for 3D printing. No idealization is sought: natural asymmetries and the gravity of the face are preserved to respect the human and historical dimension of the character.

The bust is limited to the head and upper torso, according to classical codes, and rests on a sober and balanced base, conceived as a discreet support serving the figure.
This model pays tribute to Confucius not only as a philosopher, but as a timeless symbol of wisdom, ethics, and social harmony.

This bust depicts Confucius (Kǒng Fūzǐ), one of the most influential philosophers of ancient China, whose teachings shaped ethics, philosophy, and social thought across East Asia for more than two thousand years. It is inspired by the most widely recognized and historically established representations of Confucius, derived from traditional statues and classical portraits.

The sculptural interpretation follows classical bust conventions, presenting the figure in a frontal, balanced composition. The calm and contemplative expression reflects the wisdom, discipline, and moral clarity central to Confucian thought. Distinctive features — the broad forehead, heavy-lidded eyes, long structured beard, and traditional hairstyle — are simplified yet strongly defined, emphasizing form, volume, and character rather than surface detail.

Facial planes are clearly articulated, with deep carving and pronounced lines to ensure strong readability and structural clarity for 3D printing. No idealization is applied: natural asymmetry and the solemn gravity of the face are preserved to maintain historical and human authenticity.

Limited to the head and upper torso in accordance with classical sculptural logic, the bust rests on a simple, well-proportioned base designed to remain visually secondary.
