Description

This is a modification or if you wish Remix of a similar model by Justin.  However, I made Justin's design multiple times and the hinge broke repeatedly so I modified his bracket so the RC2 Controller Antennas fold down further (cannot close completely or the bracket would be too flimsy and would break) and I did not need it to wrap around the controller sides. For me protecting the display and keeping direct sun off the display was my aim.  The hinge on this is very strong.

You cannot make the bracket standing up.  It must be on its side or it will break along the layer lines.  By laying it on its side the layers run along the bracket and makes it pliable and stong for when you attach or remove the bracket on the RC2 Controller.  I recommend you only make it from flexible filament such as PETG.  I remodelled the bracket so it will now lay on the bed, on its side easily, but it must have supports for several areas of the bracket and if you want it inside the caps on the hood. See my screenshots of the models with manually placed support trees.  I made it with only 15% infill but would recommend more.  You will need to drill out the hinge holes if you use a bolt larger than 4mm.  I had to use a 3/16inch bolt to get one long enough.  You need the bolt to be at least 75mm and a nut on the other end, so I drilled it out at 5mm.  It works beautifully now and the hinge no longer breaks.

The 3MF project file includes the bracket and the Sunhood with the caps to go over the control sticks if you wish to leave them on.  In the CAD and source files is a version of the hood without the caps for the Control sticks, if you want to remove the control sticks after every use and have a slimmer closed up unit.  Mind you the hinges protrude almost as much as the caps. I only use the cap version for the Control sticks.  I improved the antenna folding capability but it cannot be made to allow the antennas to fold down completely, so you must be careful with your antennas, if leaving this sun hood on the RC2.  If you take off the bracket and hood after every use you may find the bracket eventually breaks from being flexed that often.  I am leaving mine on most of the time.  But PETG will mean it will last a long while.
