Description

Heres one for the Chuckwagon racing family!

One of my first and only so far creation ideas with much help from @zzz.3d.selkirk. I searched high and low for a file to print and didnt have much luck. I found another amazing wagon on his page which led me into reaching out to him! (Check him out he has some amazing creations and has no problem turning ideas into reality!) I wanted to see an almost exactly replica of a Buckboard wagon used for racing with my ideas and pictures together we created this model!

What makes this wagon stand out is the shortened toe board, no side rails for fast on and off entry at the track, a unique grab bar for the passenger/teammate to hang onto, and a short back solid mounted bench seat. The wheels do rotate, the kingpin steering axle pivots, and the falling tongue pivots up and down. In the future i plan to add more little things to it. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

This here is approximately a 1/12th scale of an early 19th century Buckboard Wagon. They gained popularity after their invention in the early 1800s and remained a practical, basic transport for people and goods on farms and frontiers for decades.

Why They Were Popular:

  • Simple & Sturdy: Their basic construction was practical for rough, unpaved roads.
  • Shock Absorption: The wooden boards or leaf springs under the seat provided a natural, if bouncy, ride, hence the name.
  • Versatile: Used for everything from hauling produce to carrying people on errands.

Later throughout the years somewhere around 1923 somebody somewhere said Hey man let's race these things! As of today, it has grown into a sport that is thrived upon by many. Chuckwagon racing is a rodeo style sport that most do not know about or have never even heard of. All I can say is if you've never heard of or been to a chuckwagon race you should add it to your bucket list!
