This project is a complete Stranger Things themed chess set, designed and intended to be both a functional game and a display piece for fans of the series

READ THE DESCRIPTION

Project Content

The project includes all the necessary elements to create a complete, modular, and portable chess set

Chessboard

  • Overall dimensions: 42 cm x 42 cm
  • Border height: 3 cm
  • Chessboard base in black in the original version (fully customizable in colors)
  • The side of the chessboard features the red “Stranger Things” text
  • The side text requires AMS / multicolor printing
  • The chessboard is printed without integrated squares

 - Important note
I am also working on a version of the chessboard for those who do not have an AMS, where the side text will be printed separately and then fitted in
This version is not yet included in the current project

Some boxes are not available for A1 mini, I will upload them in the coming days

⬛⬜ Chessboard Squares (printed separately)

The squares are designed and numbered to be printed separately and then fitted into the base, without the need for glue

They are divided into three types, clearly indicated in the project:

  • Type 1 – Central Squares
  • Type 2 – Edge Squares
    • Marked with number 2
    • Feature an arrow that must be oriented towards the edge of the chessboard to ensure proper fitting
  • Type 3 – Corner Squares
    • Marked with number 3
    • 4 pieces, one for each corner

All squares:

  • are designed for dry fitting
  • do not require glue
  • can be optionally glued to create a fixed chessboard
  • without glue, they allow for a disassemblable and portable chessboard

 Colors of the Squares

  • The squares should be printed in two colors
  • In the original version: black and gray
  • In the project uploaded on MakerWorld:
    • the squares are already separated by color
    • the files are ready for printing, no modifications needed

Important Note on Printing the Squares

When printing the squares, it is crucial to ensure that the print bed is perfectly clean

  • Thoroughly clean the print bed before printing
  • Ensure excellent adhesion to the bed
  • Avoid dust, residue, or fingerprints

The squares are the most visible part of the chessboard, so good adhesion and a clean surface are essential for achieving an optimal aesthetic result

Included Containers

The project also includes dedicated containers, especially designed for those who want a disassemblable and easily portable chess set:

  • Container for the squares
  • Container for the chessboard
  • Container for the pieces

The containers allow you to:

  • store all components neatly
  • easily transport the chess set
  • prevent losing pieces

The set includes all the chess pieces, reinterpreted with iconic characters and elements from the series

UPDATE APRIL 9, 2026

  • The chessboard container has been modified: it has been slightly lengthened and the holes have been enlarged so that the pieces can fit perfectly. This way, the case closes without any issues.
  • The pieces container has also been updated to allow correct insertion even for those who do not read the description. Vecna still retains his dedicated slot, as he is larger than all other pieces.
  • The version for A1 mini has been corrected, now the tiles have the correct dimensions for the chessboard.

Important Note on Inserting the Chessboard into the Container

The chessboard is divided into four parts, and each part must be inserted into the container in the correct orientation
The container is designed with precise tolerances, so that the pieces fit perfectly by interlocking

Inserting the piece in the wrong orientation, as shown in the image with the X, the piece will still go in, but it will be difficult to remove
Inserting the piece in the correct orientation, as shown in the image with the , the piece slides in easily and can be removed without difficulty

It is therefore advisable to carefully follow the reference images to avoid problems when inserting and removing the chessboard from the container

Print Settings (IMPORTANT)

All the characters have been designed and prepared with:

  • low print speeds
  • optimized settings to ensure the highest level of detail

It is strongly advised against making any modifications to the project
The project is optimized to be printed exactly as is
I do not take responsibility for printing problems resulting from modifications to the files or settings

Supports and Reprinting Pieces

  • The characters are printed with supports
  • Some pieces are small, thin, and delicate
  • Patience and attention are required when removing supports. Pay particular attention to Nancy's and the Demogorgons' hands. Use tweezers to remove the supports.

I would really love to see how you choose to print your chess set
I dedicated a lot of time to finding the right colors for this project and I am curious to see which color combinations you will use
