D10x2 mm Round Magnet (20PCS) - CA016

Description

Fiskars Rotary Blade Sharpener for the “Ken Onion Edition Knife & Tool Sharpener Mk.2”

Blades for the “Fiskars Rotary Cutter” are expensive and sharpening them is not easy. This was my solution to get blades shaving sharp. This is highly experimental and may need more development but I thought I would share the files anyways…

Requires printing the  “KEN ONION BLADE GRINDING RISER (MK.2)” found here.

  • Compatible with:

    • Fiskars 45mm Rotary Blade
    • Fiskars 60mm Rotary Blade

  • HARDWARE (Optional):
    • Two M10x2mm Magnets

Assembly:

  1. Press/glue the 45mm & 60mm posts into the slide. Make sure your blades spin freely.
  2. (Optional) Press/glue two 10x2mm magnets into the slide.
    1. The magnets might not be entirely necessary but they can help keep the blade from tilting.
  3. Install the slide onto your “KEN ONION BLADE GRINDING RISER (MK.2)” and ensure it moves freely back and forth.

Instructions:

  1. Setup your grinder:
    1.  Set your angle 10-20° (15° got me a nice micro-bevel)
    2. The X4 belt is all you should need unless you have a large amount of damage.
    3. Use the top or middle roller position.
    4. Run the grinder at the slowest speed.
  2. With one hand slowly/lightly feed the slide into the belt & spin the blade with your other hand. BE CAREFUL!!!
    1. It shouldn't take more than a few turns
    2. Retract the slide to feel for a burr.
    3. Flip the blade and repeat sharpening.
  3. It is highly recommend you finish with a strop.
    1. You can use the Ken Onion strop belt on the grinder.
    2. You can run the blade in the Rotary cutter handle along a wooden strop.

*Not compatible with Mk.1 Blade Grinding Attachments*
