Description
So I wanted to use the included auxiliary cable on my Linnpower Zephyr, but I didn't like the light that Linnpower sells themselves.
Thus I decided to make my own.
I created the lights for the Linnpower Zephyr Base. In theory the parts should also fit on the Acedeck Stella S3 Breeze, but I can not test that, as I do not own that board. I suspect the parts will not fit the Pro variants of both boards as they will most likely collide with the motors.
In addition to the 3D printed parts, you will need to buy the cables and LED's separately.
You will need:
- M6 2-pin cable with a female plug. (Example)
12 V (!!!) LED-Strip in desired color (Example) – (4 mm wide tape, 3 mm wide LED)
- Shrink Tubes
- Solder
- Soldering iron
- Knife and/or Side Cutter
- 3D printer :D
Important Information:
- The LED's need to be connected in parallel, so that the voltage remains at 12 V!
- The cable coming from the board is wired with a “flipped” polarity. This means that the red cable is negative and the black cable is positive. (At least on my board…)
- The LED-Strips have to be cut to 75 mm length. (Usually these LED-Strips can be cut in 25 mm increments. Make sure to look for the cut-marks on the tape!)
- I cut the cables for each LED to 28 cm with an additional 2 cm for the inner cables. This ended up being a little bit too long on my setup. So maybe 27 cm or 26 cm might be better, but I did not test these lengths…
Additional Information:
- The female connector on the cable is too long to fit inside the junction box. It needs to be cut open approximately in its middle to fit. This is a little bit fiddly, but it does work.
- Make sure to test the LED's before you put on the shrink tube! (If the LED does not turn on at all, try to connect the LED the other way.)
- The washers are optional. I made them, so that the OEM bolts can be used without the belt cover. If you use shorter bolts, shorten the existing bolts or still use the belt cover, you do not need to use the washers.
- PETG filament is recommended for UV-resistance, but not strictly necessary.
