I have several Songmics shelves. All of them have (or had) the classic black connector. After a few years, the plastic hardened and started to break with the slightest effort. Even when new, they had little tolerance and were difficult to insert. If one breaks and you try to replace it with an original one, you are forced to apply some force to the various modules, which inevitably leads to other pieces breaking. What happened to me is that many broke in sequence due to the weight of what was inside the shelves. I therefore redesigned the connector from scratch, making it a bit larger and with holes that have greater tolerance. I tested several sizes, and the one I propose is the one that works best. With these dimensions, the various panels are easily inserted, and there remains a margin of movement that prevents them from falling apart but facilitates disassembly or repositioning in case of an error. After I reassembled the entire shelf, I tightened the various panels together with plastic zip ties, making everything very strong and stable. This can also be seen from the photo.
