Heartspinner: Graceful 3D Dancing Ballerina

This spinning ballerina sculpture brings graceful motion to your desk or shelf with a low poly dancer holding a heart overhead. 

This geometric figure stands en pointe on a base of your choice (3 sizes provided) designed to look like her legs and feet, creating a striking vertical silhouette that captures the elegance of classical ballet.  Larger base sizes are suitable for easy text-embossing in the slicer for personalization as you wish!

The dancer’s dress is formed from long, thin spines of PLA that radiate outward from the center, each tipped with a small heart. When gently spun, these delicate strands create a flowing tutu effect that sweeps through the air in a mesmerizing display. The open structure of the skirt allows you to see the faceted geometry of the dancer’s body beneath, adding visual depth.

The heart held above the dancer’s head prints separately, so you can add a contrasting color (red shown here) without needing an AMS. Shown here in white PLA with a red heart, the model works beautifully in any color combination you choose.

Printing Notes
Layer height and print settings matter for this model. The thin spines of the dress required some tuning to print properly, and this is in the profiles here. I’ve included pre-tuned profiles that should work well with most PLA filaments.

A modifier object is included in the 3MF to add weight to the front of the dancer, helping to balance the model properly for smooth spinning. This internal weighting is only mildly important for the sculpture to twirl evenly on its pointed base without wobbling or tipping.  If you want the dancer to always rest with her head tilted back, you can remove the modifier.

The heart prints separately and simply slots into in the dancer’s hands. No glue needed (but you can if you want), which makes it easy to swap colors or replace if needed.

Use standard PLA for both the dancer and the heart. The delicate structure doesn’t require any special materials, though you could experiment with silk or metallic filaments for extra visual interest.
