Descent: Legends of the Dark – Vertical Organizer & Insert
Organize your campaign and get to the table faster!
This is a comprehensive custom insert designed for Descent: Legends of the Dark (3rd edition). It is designed to hold all miniatures, tokens, cards (sleeved), and dials within the original game box, optimizing space and keeping everything safe.
🆕 My First Contribution!
This is my very first design created and uploaded to MakerWorld! I have learned a huge amount during this project, but I am fully aware that there are likely many aspects that could be optimized or improved. I wanted to share this to give back to the 3D printing community that has allowed me to enjoy so many other models. I am always open to any advice or tips. Please feel free to leave a comment with your suggestions—I am eager to keep learning and growing in this exciting new world of 3D design!
(I am currently working on taking and uploading the final photos of the printed model. They will be up soon!)
Print Details & Compatibility
- Printer Size: Designed specifically for the Bambu Lab A1 build volume (256 x 256mm)
- Modular Design: The main insert is split into 4 quadrants to fit standard build plates
- Note: If you have a large-format printer, you can remix/merge these bodies in your slicer to print them as a single unit, but the 4-part split works perfectly for the A1/P1/X1 series.
- Filament Usage: Approximately 1.6 kg of PLA total.
Credits & Attribution
- Bottom Box: The bottom storage section is a design originally created by 'PintosDesigns' on Thingiverse. Full credit to them for the incredible foundation of that section!!
Design Notes & Areas for Improvement (Open for Remixing!)
Since this is my first project, there are a few things I learned after printing that could be improved. The insert works great, but full transparency for those downloading:
- Miniature Risers: Some smaller miniatures (like spiders/wolves/heroes) sit deep in the vertical slots. I designed separate "risers" (hollow blocks) to lift them up.
- Improvement: Ideally, these risers should have been modelled directly into the floor of the main insert. Currently, they are separate prints placed at the bottom of the slots.
- Cards Tray: Adding a hole to card trays would make managing decks a lot easier.
Please feel free to download, print, and REMIX this model! I would love to see someone fix the card tolerances or integrate the risers.
