Description
A 3D front support tool for mounting to a cabinet carcass is a temporary assembly aid, usually produced using 3D printing technology (e.g. PLA or PET-G), designed to support and precisely position a furniture front (cabinet door or drawer front) while it is being attached to the cabinet body.
General description
The tool acts as a stable support, holding the weight of the front and maintaining it at the correct height and alignment during installation.
It is specifically designed to create a precise 2 mm offset (setback) between the bottom edge of the cabinet carcass and the front, ensuring a clean, consistent visual gap and professional finish. This allows a single person to mount the front accurately without needing to hold it by hand.
Construction
Main body – a compact, rigid element that rests on the lower edge of the cabinet carcass
Front support surface – positioned to automatically generate a 2 mm step between the carcass bottom and the front
Flat or slightly profiled contact area – prevents the front from slipping
Protective edges – help prevent movement and protect surfaces from scratches
How it works
The tool is placed on the lower edge of the cabinet carcass.
The furniture front is rested on the support surface, which sets the front 2 mm above the bottom of the carcass.
The front is aligned and leveled.
Once the alignment and gaps are confirmed, the front is fixed to hinges or drawer runners.
The tool is removed after installation.
Advantages
guarantees a consistent 2 mm offset
improves installation accuracy and repeatability
enables one-person assembly
speeds up the mounting process
reduces the risk of the front shifting or dropping
