Magnetic “Flying” Iron Man Bookend

This project is a magnetic illusion bookend inspired by Iron Man, designed to appear as if the figure is floating while holding books perfectly in place.
 

The effect is achieved through a hidden magnet system embedded inside the printed model. When paired with a metallic bookend, the figure is pulled into position and visually “flies” next to the books.
For my setup, I used the IKEA BOTTNA metal bookend, which provides the ideal balance of strength, stability, and availability.

🧲 Magnet & Customization Section

I created a dedicated magnet profile system to make customization simple and reliable.

• The magnet holder is a separate, replaceable part
• I provide a set of pre-verified magnet profiles,
• You can easily create your own profile if you want to use a different magnet size or strength
  
   

🖨️ Printing Notes

• Recommended material: PLA / PLA+ / Silk PLA
• No supports required for the main body

• The two-part design improves print reliability and post-assembly flexibility
