Description

In one of the cut senate scenes from Star Wars Ep. II, Padmé wears a deep blue gown with golden details on the front of the overskirt. This can either be embroidered or painted unto the blue velvet fabric. Since the pattern on the original dress seems to be very flat, I decided to go for the painted version.

In this upload, you can find my template that I used with a beginner's aibrush set and Vallejo Air metallic paint. You might need several layers to achieve a rich color.

I recommend adding a piece of paper around the template to protect your fabric from any paint particles (as shown in the photos). You can simply glue it to the 3D printed model with some hot glue. Flip the template when working on the other side. On the upper and lower side of the model, there are a small cut-out pieces that mark the beginning of the next patterns. This helps to align the pattern. However, after aligning and before you start airbrushing, you should close this with a small piece of tape.

Please note: The uppermost pairs of the design have a reduced number of the petals. For these parts, the template can be adjusted by adding some strips of masking tape, so that the same model can be used for the complete design.

Have fun and please show me your finished cosplays!

Please note that this model was created for cosplay & creative purposes only. I was inspired by the original art from the Star Wars universe, but I am not a part of Lucasfilm or Disney. I modeled this in Blender and printed it on an A1.
