Optimus Prime Origin-Zero Mecha Remix

From the moment I learned about the remix contest organized by Kit Crafters, the idea was immediate: to create a tribute to Optimus Prime, a character that has inspired me since childhood. 
 

This model is a remix of the Origin-Zero Mecha, taking inspiration by the Humanoid Mecha Series by Kit Crafters, which played a key role in shaping both the aesthetic direction and the engineering approach of the design. This contest encouraged me to experiment with new connection systems, all established by Kit Crafters, and to push the limits of what can be achieved with small, detailed parts—while keeping everything optimized for FDM printing.

The model was designed to be fully support-free and glueless, using snap-fit connections that enable easy assembly. This approach also allows the model to be printed efficiently without AMS, while still offering an optional AMS workflow for users who prefer multicolor printing. 

 

Throughout the contest period, the model went through multiple iterations. Each revision focused on improving articulation, balance, and part tolerances, ultimately resulting in a stable, poseable mecha capable of achieving a wide range of dynamic positions—including several classic Optimus Prime poses—without compromising stability.

The fully assembled model has a total height of 82.5 mm (3.25 inches). All illustrative photos were taken using this scale. Most parts were printed in PETG and the model was tested and printed on an Ender 3 V2.
