Resmed AirSense N30i & P30i nasal filter cartridge

This is a reusable cartridge featuring the ability to swap the filter material, designed to fit the AirFit P30i and N30i nasal cushion for Resmed AirSense 10 and 11 CPAP machines. This cartridge will fit the small, medium and large sizes.

The P30i and N30i nasal pillows and cushions use a replaceable filter cartridge. However, Resmed doesn't seem to sell the cartridge by itself, and you have to buy an entire pillow or cushion. There are aftermarket cartridges available, but they are about $16 for a pack of four.

The filter material appears to be nothing special, similar to or the same as the filter used for the machine. The filter life expectancy seems to vary, with one user having reported as having lasted only a week before starting to smell. When the filter gets worn and dirty, some people would take tweezers to somehow get the old filter out, and then cram a cut piece of the machine filter in there.

We can do better than that. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY.

You can buy the machine filters for cheap. And one of those machine filters makes five filters for this reusable cartridge. Put the filter into the cutout area where the holes are, and then snap the cover on. That's it. Replace the filter every week or whenever you feel like it. It's cheaper than buying whole new cartridge or nasal pillow/cushion every time it starts to smell. The fact the filter can be removed also means you can take it out just before giving the pillow/cushion a bath, because soggy filter = mold.

Now, this thing being a component for a medical device, there are some things to consider, such as the material you use to print this, especially considering the method you use to clean and disinfect your mask and hose. I consulted xAI and here is what it had to say:

• Mild soap and warm water: PETG or PP
• Distilled vinegar: PETG or ASA
• Commercial disinfectant (without alcohol): PC or PP
• Commercial disinfectant (with alcohol): PETG
• Ozone: TPU or PC
• UV: ASA or PC
• Dilute bleach or hypochlorite solution: PC or PP (PETG can resist hypochlorite for occasional exposure)
• PLA and ABS are not recommended

I personally use PETG since I use a combination of weekly soap and water bath, and daily application of CleanSmart spray (containing 0.017% hypochlorite). While xAI didn't mention anything in this regard, I personally would not use any material that contains fibrous material such as carbon fiber, because you definitely wouldn't want to breathe that in should the cartridge get damaged and start to shed material.

As far as noise, I haven't noticed much difference.
