Description

The jig holds the drill bit at a fixed angle relative to the grinding wheel, making it easier to achieve symmetrical cutting edges and a proper point angle, even for beginners.

Included Attachments

This design includes three separate angle attachments to cover the most common drill point geometries:

  • 90° – for soft materials and plastics
  • 120° – standard general-purpose drill bits
  • 135° – ideal for harder materials and reduced walking

Simply swap the attachment to match the desired drill bit angle.

Features

  • Designed to mount securely on a standard bench grinder
  • Fixed-angle guides for accurate and repeatable sharpening
  • Simple, robust design optimized for 3D printing
  • Improves repeatability and extends drill bit life
  • Ideal for workshops, garages, and maker spaces

Printing Notes

  • Print in PETG or ABS for better heat resistance (PLA may soften near the grinder)
  • No supports required (adjust if needed)
  • Recommended infill: 30–50% for strength and durability

Usage

  1. Select the desired angle attachment (90°, 120°, or 135°)
  2. Insert the drill bit into the holder
  3. Lightly grind each cutting edge evenly
  4. Rotate and repeat until sharp
