Description
Please read through everything before printing, this uses a lot of filament, takes awhile to print all the parts, and has some optional items. I have printed each item multiple times now to get it right. This nightstand station includes a phone charger, LED nightlight, and 2 small containers for stuff like meds or earplugs or whatnot.
Let me start with a big disclaimer - I designed and built this for myself, and I am a hobbyist, not an engineer/professional designer. With that said I, I thought it turned out pretty well so I wanted to share with others in case they liked it too. It is sized for my phone with case, which is an iphone 13/otterbox case. There is a tiny bit of wiggle-room when my phone is in the stand. The giant phones that make you look like a toddler holding a remote control to your face aren't going fit. I included a pic with dimensions so you can check if yours fits before printing anything. I had 2 different sized mag chargers available, so I made a stand with a different size for the charger.
If your charger is “official” apple, use the smaller charger stand option. Again, please check the dimensions before printing anything and use the alternate phone stand plates to pick the right one.
The main print profile requires an AMS. A lot of the color variation is possible without an AMS, it is mainly the phone cover and end caps where I used multi-color printing.
I wanted a nightstand phone charger that would allow me to hide my phone completely, so this by default includes a cover (that uses the AMS) and attaches with magnets (4mm diameter, 3mm deep). A lot of people probably like having their phone visible, so I made a stand that doesn't use a cover. If you want a different sized charger or magnets leave a comment and I will try my best to accommodate. I also included a blank cover in case you want to customize your own.
The nightlight is sized for the original maker world white LED puck light (Kit MH001). The dimensions are 60 mm diameter and the cord fits through a hole that is 12mm x 20 mm.
Otherwise you needs 3mm screws, 4x3mm magnets, and some glue (I used weld-on 16). I made an assembly guide that outlines how to put it together, there are a few tricky angles with the screws. Dry fit everything before full assembly.
There are 4 different options for the phone stand. The main profile contains the larger (60mm) usb C charger and holes for magnets first with the other options on the last plates.
The options are:
A. Larger 60mm usb c charger with magnet holes (main profile in picture)
B. Smaller 58 mm usb c charger with magnet holes
C. larger 60mm mm usb c charger without magnet holes (no cover)
D. Smaller 58 mm usb c charger without magnet holes (no cover)
The main profile settings for the actual cylinder lamp body will show visible infill lines. I like it that way so I did that intentionally. I did include a second profile with different settings that minimize any sort of internal lines with the exception of a seam. I tried a print with a randomized seam and it came out kind of “gritty” where the seams were (used Translucent PETG that had been thoroughly dried first) so the secondary profile does not randomize the seam.

The screws you need are:
8 of 3x6
7 of 3x8
4 of 3x12
The assembly doc includes the placement, and if you do print parts with PLA Silk+ I would recommend self tapping screws.
One more additional print profiles included:
An alternate container that has a spot for a 128x64 OLED display and micro-controller. NOTE: this needs a different base than the main profile, please see file “alternate version with OLED display”. The alternate base has a hole for wires to feed through to the back. As to why; I am adding a clock to mine that only shows the time when I press a button (I like things totally dark at night). If you are a maker and want to make use of the OLED display that container is closed with 4 2.5 mm x 4mm screws.
If you end up printing this I hope you like it! I have several other projects I made for xmas presents that just need polishing and documentation - but will be uploading again soon!
