A coin-like holder designed for 25mm NFC tags.

The coins are printed in two parts, with a recess in the bottom-half for the NFC tag to be placed. The top-half is designed to friction fit into the bottom-half with no adhesive necessary, but adhesive is of course optional. When friction fitting, you can use your fingernails to grip the raised portion of the top half to separate it from the bottom and access the NFC tag inside.

To print more copies in a single print, additional copies can be added via Bambu Handy when choosing to print a print profile, or of course the file(s) can be downloaded and modified in your slicer of choice.

If you try one of the “normal” print profiles and find the fit is too tight, try one of the “looser” tolerance profiles instead. When testing I primarily used Bambu's Textured PEI plate. I did do some printing with a Darkmoon Ice plate as well. While both use the “Textured” plate type in Bambu Studio/Handy, a thicker third-party plate such as the Darkmoon Ice resulted in a tighter fit than Bambu's textured plate. Filament type and calibration (or lack of calibration) of the selected filament will impact how tight/loose the fit is.

Multiple print profile options are included. Current options are:

  • Blank tops and bottoms
  • Amiibo logo recessed on the bottom of the bottom-half
  • Amiibo logo along with text and/or game franchise logos
  • AMS/Multi-color variations
  • Normal (tighter) tolerances for the top-half to fit inside the bottom half.
  • Looser tolerance fit for the top half.
  • Tighter tolerance profiles added for anyone that finds the “Normal” profile fit is a bit too loose.
  • **** I've added a print profile with a storage case which holds up to 14 coins.
  • **** Added Metroid Prime 4 “Samus and Viola” print profiles.

I'll add additional profiles as I create new ones for my own use. You can also load any of the existing files in Bambu Studio and either add or modify your own text, and/or find SVG files for any image/logo files which can then be imported into Bambu Studio and placed on the surface of the print.
