Description

Designed these vending capsules for my home gumball machines. I was looking for something secure (with threaded fit) that wouldn't come apart and that scaled to the typical gumball size (25 mm / 1 inch). Also added Acorn Shaped Capsules, which is what I remember from when I was a kid.

While I was designing these, I also added additional sizes. These are not just linearly scaled; the threads are have been adjusted for each size to maximize internal space.

Four sizes are uploaded in the print profiles:

25 mm
30 mm
40 mm
50 mm

In-between sizes may be possible with scaling - suggest starting with the nearest possible size.

Multi-color prints look great, but can be deactivated in the print profile if you don't have an AMS. These need to be printed at 0.16 mm layer height or less. Thicker layers will compromise the thread. Supports also need to be activated.

Having some issues with the top of the ball. It doesn't want to print a smooth curve. I've tried Adaptive variable layer height, hiding it in fuzzy skin, increasing support angle, a different filament brand and material (tried PETG & PC)... it does not disappear. It works and locks well, though. Let me know if there is a technique I missed to fix the weird dip at the top.

Thanks for the feedback - I've taken a look at my prints to compare. My large capsule prints look similar, though the 'ring' seems to disappear with the smaller spheres; they look more spherical. I expect this is unavoidable when printing a larger thin curved surface, but I'll play around with settings and see if I can improve the print profile. Will look into it! :)

these are probably the only ones I print that don't fall apart. I don't even use the the supports and they come out great.
