This bust depicts **Galileo** (Galileo Galilei, 1564–1642), an Italian astronomer, physicist, and mathematician, a foundational figure of modern science. The sculpture is **inspired by the most famous and widely circulated portrait of the scholar**, showing him in old age, full-face, with a full beard and a gaze that is both stern and deeply contemplative, which has become emblematic of his historical image.

The face is deliberately interpreted with a **simplification of forms**, favoring powerful volumes and well-defined features to enhance the bust's expression and readability. The beard and hair are rendered as clean, structured sculpted masses, without micro-details, to accentuate the character's personality and ensure excellent visual coherence, particularly well-suited for a 3D printed bust.

Galileo is particularly known for having perfected the use of the astronomical telescope and for his revolutionary observations: the mountains of the Moon, the phases of Venus, and the moons of Jupiter. A defender of the heliocentric model initiated by Copernicus, he opposed the dominant geocentric view, at the cost of a high-profile trial before the Inquisition. This bust pays tribute to a free and visionary spirit, a symbol of intellectual courage and the pursuit of scientific truth.
