BMW E83 X3 Door Handle Trim Mount
Print Profile(1)

Description
The BMW E83 X3 has a thin and fragile piece of cast metal under the stationary portion of each door handle (the little trim piece which, on the driver door, has the keyhole). The painted/decorative outer piece of plastic snaps onto the metal piece and the metal piece is held on by an M5 bolt which can be accessed through a rubber-plugged hole just inside the edge of the door. This is a printable version of the metal piece.
The previous owner of my X3 pried them off and broke them on all doors except the driver door. Since I didn't need to replace the driver one, I HAVE NOT VERIFIED THAT MY MODEL WILL WORK FOR THE TRIM PIECE WITH THE KEYHOLE IN IT. It may work, or if it doesn't, it may be as simple as increasing the central bore diameter in the model to make room for the lock cylinder.
Printed on my A1 Mini in PETG, 0.4 nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 4 walls, 40% gyroid, no support, no brim. Kinda overkill but I really don't want them to come off. I recommend printing in the orientation shown in the picture of the green one.
Threads are printed as part of the model and it can be tricky to get the bolt started during installation. They are pretty tight threads and they will probably squeak a lot when you tighten the bolt.
This little piece took WAY more work to get it right than I was expecting. It could have been a very simple part but BMW made it a lot more complicated.
Hopefully this helps someone!
