Description

Crutch Caddy

As someone who relied on crutches due to a traumatic knee injury, I found it quite difficult to move around and carry my belongings at the same time. Being an engineer, I set out to fix this inconvenience and designed the crutch caddy. It features a cup holder and a slot for your phone or small notebook.

  • The slim phone version can fit phones that are less than 12.7mm (0.5") thick by 79.3mm (3.125") wide.
  • The large phone version can fit phones that are less than 15.8mm (0.625") thick by 88.9mm (3.5") wide.

If you are in need of a custom size, please contact me.

This crutch caddy got me through 5 months of crutch use and survived quite a bit of accidental abuse including drops to even being sat upon. The shims create an incredibly sturdy, rattle-free attachment that is quick to assemble. Known to work with Medzah branded crutches.

Assembly

  1. Place the crutch caddy onto one of the crutch vertical tubes.
  2. Tip the crutch caddy downward.
  3. Rotate the crutch caddy to align with the other crutch vertical tube.
  4. Slide the crutch caddy down until it rests on both of the angled tubes.
  5. Simultaneously insert the shims and press evenly. A light press fit is adequate.

Printed beautifully! Fits my Medline crutches very well. Was only able to fit one of the shims in there but it looks like one side is curved diffently. However, even with no shim, the caddy is very secure with this wedge design. Great job! Thanks for sharing!

would you be able to make one that has room for a longer crutch leg?? I’ll add a picture!

I gave this a great deal of thought. My current design does not adapt easily to crutches with a large center post protruding in the middle of the "V". A cup holder that clamps onto that center post might be better suited like this one here: <https://makerworld.com/en/models/962070-crutch-cup-holder?from=search#profileId-1680300>;
