Description

Celebrate one of the most iconic moments in cinema history with this Shelf-Sitting E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial figure. This "shelf critter" is designed to bring a touch of 80s nostalgia to your home, featuring E.T. in a relaxed, seated pose that fits perfectly on any ledge.

Project Overview

This model captures the lovable, wrinkled charm of everyone's favourite visitor from the stars. It is specially balanced to sit securely on the edge of a bookshelf, monitor, or mantle, with his long, slender legs hanging naturally over the side.

Key Features

  • Edge-Balanced Geometry: Precisely weighted to ensure E.T. stays put without the need for sticky tack or glue.
  • Screen-Accurate Details: Includes the characteristic skin folds, expressive neck, and elongated fingers that make E.T. instantly recognizable.
  • Heart-Light Ready: The chest area is modelled with a subtle cavity, allowing you to use translucent filament or a small LED for a glowing "Heart-Light" effect.
  • Pointed Finger: One hand is sculpted with the famous "Ouch" finger extended, perfect for pointing toward the stars (or your favourite books).

Print Settings & Recommendations

To capture the organic textures of E.T.'s skin, I recommend the following:

  • Filament: Brown or Tan PLA. Using a "Marble" or "Wood" infused filament can add a great natural skin texture.
  • Layer Height: 0.12mm is best to capture the fine wrinkles and facial details.
  • Infill: 15%. I suggest using a higher infill percentage (30%+) for the "seat" and legs to lower the centre of gravity.
  • Supports: Minimal supports are required for the chin and the pointing finger.

Display Ideas

  • The "Home" Library: Sit him atop your collection of sci-fi novels.
  • The Nursery: A gentle, nostalgic guardian for a child's room.
  • Phone Home: Place him on your desk right next to your phone or computer.
