Description

For spools with outer diameter of 198mm.

Inner diameter of the rims are 197.6mm - makes for a tight friction fit.

Tested with 1kg of filament and works perfectly with no issues ever since installation.

Consider using hardware such as bolts or nuts in the core if you need the spool to be weighted down more.

Print all 3 pieces

Holder piece and Cover piece can be printed normally.

Use the .3mf file for cap piece. This will create hexagonal holes on it.

As other users have tested - Scale to 101.21% for Polymaker cardboard spools

If you need customization to fit your specific spools exactly or the working files, please leave me a message.

Other Issues:I wanted to like this - I think it is a great idea. Unfortunately, I guess I am in the minority and it didn't work work for me. I had a 198mm spool but it just would not fit (too small) no matter how much I tried to force it. Also, even though it says it is a remix of the popular silica holders - neither the desiccant lid nor the thread pattern are compatible with those original models. Not a big deal, I guess, but a missed opportunity IMO.

Same for Overture reels, they are too small.

Same for me, I am using CTRL + A to highlight everything, then scaling everything up by 1%, I think this will work, I will let you know! I spools like just like your picture, Fit around half way and then a big ole nope lol.

Cool. Let me know how it works out. I was also thinking of scaling it but didn't want to experiment

Just wanted to make one small suggestion: It doesn't look like we can put loose silica gel inside your spool designs, holes are too big. Maybe replacing the holes by a grid might work better (example: https://www.printables.com/model/402087-adjustable-spool-holder-for-silica-gel-spool-weigh). However it can easily be fixed by gluing a small sheet of felt or putting the silica gel into a reusable pouch, etc

OH MY GOODNESS! I bought a few spools of Canadian-Made PETg+ from 3D Printing Canada (Their own brand name) and could not find the right adaptor size for it. I measured 197mm using a ruler, but every lip-adaptor I tried were too hard to put on, and 198mm was too lose and was afraid that it would come off inside the AMS. But then I found your adaptor and it fit 3D Printing Canada's spool like a glove! I printed mine in PETG+ instead of PLA on my P1S and it worked great! Thank you @xonggg

The 101.21% also suits Protech reels

didn't fit on the spool despite the upsetting amount of force I put into trying to get it on

Hi I just got a Bambu lab p1s and i love it but i found out the hard way that the cardboard spools have issues so i was looking for a fix and found your cardboard spool adapter. My question is will these fit the cardboard spools from elegoo? all the other brands of filament i use have the plastic spools. I am very new to 3d printing only been doing it for a little over a year but i love it. If anyone can answer this i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
