Turn your cereal container dry-box into a professional filament storage system using the existing pouring flap!

This desiccant pod is designed to press-fit directly into the circular pouring spout of common plastic cereal containers. Unlike other designs that block the opening permanently, this features a unique clearance angle that allows the pouring flap to hinge open freely, even while the desiccant basket is installed.

Visual Check System: The basket screws into the mounting ring from the bottom. This leaves the top open (through the clear flap or a glued window) so you can instantly check if your silica gel needs recharging without opening the box.

Key Features

  • šŸ”“ Flap-Friendly Geometry: The "chin" of the basket is angled specifically to clear the container's lid mechanism. You can still open the flap to route filament or access the inside without the pod getting stuck.
  • šŸ“ Parametric Fit (Fusion 360): Includes the .f3d source file. The Inner Diameter (ID) stays fixed to ensure the threads always match, but the Outer Diameter (OD) is fully parametric (BoxHole) to create a perfect press-fit for your specific container brand.
  • šŸŒ€ Optimized Airflow: Slanted (+-25 degree) slots provide maximum surface area for moisture absorption while remaining 100% printable without supports.
  • 🧱 Press-Fit or Glue: Designed to be press-fit into the flap ring for an airtight seal. You can also glue for maximum hold.

Parametric Settings (Fusion 360)

The included file allows you to adjust the fit for different container brands:

  • BoxHole: Adjusts the OUTSIDE diameter of the mounting ring.
    • Default: 57mm (Tight press-fit for standard containers).
    • Note: The threaded ID remains constant so the basket always fits.

Installation & Alignment (Crucial!)

  1. Assemble First: Screw the basket fully into the mounting ring BEFORE installing it into the container.
  2. Test Fit: Insert the assembly into the pouring spout of your container.
  3. Align the Angle: Rotate the entire assembly until the angled bottom of the basket is facing the correct direction (usually away from the hinge) so the flap can open smoothly without catching.
  4. Secure: Once aligned, press it in firmly. If using glue for a permanent seal, ensure the basket is screwed in during gluing to guarantee the threads lock at the correct orientation.

Print Settings

  • Material: PETG or PLA.
  • Supports: None required.
