Description

This sculpt is a fan-art interpretation of Eddie, the iconic mascot of Iron Maiden, inspired by the legendary “Powerslave” album artwork. The design combines Eddie’s unmistakable skull-like face with an ancient Egyptian pharaoh headdress, referencing the dark, monumental visual style that defines the Powerslave era.

Designed as a display bust, this model focuses on bold forms, strong facial structure, and clean geometry, making it both visually striking and highly suitable for FDM 3D printing and hand painting.

Design Overview

  • Clearly recognizable Eddie skull features
  • Egyptian pharaoh headdress inspired by the Powerslave album art
  • Stylized rather than hyper-realistic, to maintain strong silhouettes
  • Solid bust form with a stable base for display

The sculpt intentionally avoids fragile or overly thin details, making it reliable to print while still capturing the aggressive, iconic look fans expect.

Printing Recommendations

Suggested print settings:

  • Nozzle: 0.4 mm
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm (0.16 mm for higher surface quality)
  • Material: PLA or PLA+
  • Infill: 10–15% (Gyroid recommended)
  • Supports: As provided bu the profile.
  • Orientation: Flat base on the build plate

The model prints cleanly as a single piece on most modern FDM printers.

Scaling

This bust scales very well and maintains its proportions at different sizes.

  • Recommended display height: 120–160 mm
  • Larger prints enhance surface texture and paint detail

Painting & Finishing

This model is ideal as a painting project:

  • Prime before painting for best adhesion
  • Acrylic paints recommended
  • Metallic gold accents work especially well on the headdress.(I used gold leaf, but a nice gold paint will also work.
  • Dark washes enhance depth in the skull features
  • Finish with a matte or satin clear coat

The example shown uses layered paint, gold leaf metallic highlights, and subtle weathering to match the Powerslave aesthetic. Finished with a clean glossy spray to fixate the paint and goldleaf.

Intended Use

  • Display bust
  • Iron Maiden fan-art collectible
  • Painting and finishing project
  • Desk, shelf, or studio decoration

Not intended as a toy.
