Description

This project is a dial indicator holder designed for Bambu Lab P1P, P1S, and X1C 3D printers. It allows precise manual bed leveling using a dial indicator, improving first layer quality and overall printer calibration. By leveling the bed accurately, the printer does not have to compensate for large height differences, resulting in more stable and repeatable prints.

Compatibility

This holder works with:

  • Bambu Lab P1P
  • Bambu Lab P1S
  • Bambu Lab X1C

It is designed for dial indicators with a rear mounting lug, with:

  • Lug thickness: 6 mm
  • Mounting hole diameter: 6 mm or larger

This project was tested with the Yato YT-72450 dial indicator (0–10 mm range).

Required Parts

  • No additional parts required
  • Optionally, an M6 screw can be used to secure the dial indicator for extra stability

Installation

Step-by-step installation is simple and safe:

  1. Place the dial indicator into the dedicated slot in the holder
  2. Mount the holder on the printer toolhead
  3. Tighten the top screw gently until resistance is felt and the holder is stable

⚠️ Do not overtighten – this can damage the printed part or the dial indicator.

Usage and Bed Leveling

  1. Home the printer
  2. Move the toolhead using printer controls or the Bambu Handy app
  3. Read the dial indicator values
  4. Adjust the bed level using the three adjustment knobs under the build plate

Proper leveling ensures consistent first layers and reduces printing issues.

Worked great! I used a Neoteck Dial Indicator to level the print bed on my X1C. The only thing I had to change was the top screw that tightens it onto the printer head, I needed to reduce X/Y to 98%, as at 100% the threads were too tight and I couldn’t screw it down tightly enough without screw getting stuck.

screw holes printed vertically are not ideal, so more clearance or a different design would be better, otherwise it works

I am gonna print it en test it . Best to heat up the bed first and then measure .
