A-4 Skyhawk Kit Card – Blue Angels Edition

Experience the A-4 Skyhawk in its famous Blue Angels livery, flown by the U.S. Navy’s precision flight demonstration team from 1974 to 1986. Lightweight, responsive, and powerful, the A-4 was perfectly suited for tight formations and dynamic aerobatics.

Fun Facts:
• The Blue Angels chose the A-4 for its excellent handling and low operating cost.
• Its compact size allowed for very close formation flying, a hallmark of the team’s displays.
• Painted in the iconic blue and yellow scheme, the A-4 became a crowd favorite at airshows worldwide.

Printed 4 of these and designed a mount to put them in a diamond formation. The mount is published here in makerworld. This is the "Yankee" set which is the closest they get during the Diamond 360 maneuver

Noah, in the middle of the A4, there is a rack that is also used to carry and drop bombs. The rack also serves to carry a tank of fuel. It has a long hose in it and it contains jet fuel. On the end of that hose there is a latch that connects to the end of the fuel probe. The pilot in the front plane holds steady and the pilot for the receiving plane lines up his probe and fits it into the end of the hose. Once that happens and the lead pilot gets a notice that the linkup has occurred, he releases the fuel and it goes into the tank of the receiving (trailing) jet. When the amount of fuel the receiving plane is supposed to get has been transferred, the lead pilot releases the latch and the two planes separate and the lead pilot reels in the hose. I watched this process when I was in the back seat of a TA4-F and a group of us were flying over the desert of Arizona.

Aerial refueling is such a precise operation — seeing it from a TA-4F must give you a whole new respect for the pilots.

It did. I was a very lucky person to have these opportunities. Sometimes they would let me fly the jet and that was pretty awesome too. But out in the desert, miles from everything, what was I going to hurt so it was pretty safe.

A4 took more time than I expected, and I don't have much free time at the moment, so I won't be able to do it.

This was a great print set up, easy assembly so much that I sent it to my niece for her autistic son. She said he loves putting it together and taking it apart to assemble again. Fly Navy !!!

Was my first MulitColor print ever. Came out fantastic. Did some extra touch up with some acrylic markers. Nothing that the creator did, just wanted to add some other touches to it.
