A scaled and mechanized scale model of the 12.7cm/50 (127mm/5 inches) Type 3 naval gun of the Imperial Japanese Navy. This model is specifically the type C twin mount featuring 55 degree of elevation and 7 degree of depression [1]. This mount is found on the Kagero class, Asashio class, Shiratsuyu class (except IJN Yuudachi) and some of the Hatsuharu class.

The guns can be elevated using the 2 knobs at the barbette of the turret, connected by a series of gears.

Features:

  • No glue / screws / bolts required
  • Exclusively snap-fit joints
  • Easy to assemble and disassemble
  • Movable guns controlled by internal gears
  • Rigid with extremely low backlash

Instructions:

Before combining the 2 halves of the barbette, ensure the top and bottom halves of the 2 gear shafts are aligned

Cross sectional view: note that the arrows on the barrel should point upwards
