Description

This oversized classic minifigure prototype was created purely for fun—and a heavy dose of nostalgia.

The idea behind this project was to recreate the original minifigure form using simple geometry and clean lines, then scale it up to 500% of its original size. No articulation, no modern updates—just the unmistakable blocky silhouette that defined early minifigure design.

The model was recreated using a prototype reference image originally shared by a member of the Beyond the Brick Facebook group. That reference image is included here for context, and full credit goes to the original photographer/creator for capturing the prototype that inspired this build.

Rather than chasing perfection, the focus was on faithfulness to the early design language—sharp angles, straightforward shapes, and proportions that still feel instantly familiar even at a much larger scale.

Why 500%?

  • Large enough to truly appreciate the geometry
  • Small enough to print on most consumer 3D printers
  • Big enough to be delightfully impractical and fun

This model is intended as a display piece, perfect for desks, shelves, or as a conversation starter alongside other brick-based builds.

Designed for fun.
Built with nostalgia.
Printed simply because it made sense at the time.
