Description

For quite some time, I’d been searching for a safe, reliable scalpel cover that would seamlessly fit the handles I already use. When I couldn’t find a suitable solution, I decided to design a completely new one — a universal cover that fits virtually any handle.

The presented caps are designed for flat‑profile handles and feature an integrated tension spring that keeps the cover securely in place. The cover offers ample clearance for the blade and features a built‑in depth stop that indicates how far it can be safely placed onto the handle.

Dimensions of the protective caps

#3 - A dedicated space for the blade extending beyond the handle 23mm,  thickness of the handle - 2,9-2,6mm,  width of the handle - 11mm

#4 - A dedicated space for the blade extending beyond the handle 26mm,  thickness of the handle - 3,3-3,7mm,  width of the handle - 14mm

Printing Guidelines

  • Use PETG filament
  • Reduce the bridge printing speed — in my case, to 10 mm/s
  • Increase the filament flow for bridges — in my case, to 1.5
  • No supports are required.
  • If you’re experiencing bed‑adhesion issues, enable a brim

After printing

The model requires no supports, which means the tension spring needs to be released by inserting an empty handle into the cover.
