V2 - Handle covers for IKEA ALEX – Old & New

This is the second design variant of my handles for IKEA ALEX drawer elements.

The dimensions and mounting points are exactly the same as in Version 1, but the handle geometry has been completely redesigned.
Instead of a flat, flush-mounted handle, Version 2 features a downward-angled handle at a 45-degree angle, creating a distinct visual and ergonomic improvement.

Design & Function

Due to the downward-angled handle design, small dimensional and alignment variations between individual IKEA ALEX drawers become visually less noticeable.

Manufacturing tolerances such as slight differences in hole positioning or drawer alignment are subtly masked, resulting in a cleaner and more uniform overall appearance.

At the same time, the angled geometry improves grip ergonomics, making the handle more comfortable and easier to use.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for IKEA ALEX drawer elements, these handles fully cover the original mounting holes.

Two dedicated versions are available:

• for the new ALEX model
• for the old ALEX model

Each version is adjusted to its respective model generation.

Mounting Options

Both ALEX versions are available in two mounting variants:

Screw version

• Mounted with small countersunk head screws
• Three screws per handle
• Screw heads sit flush and are barely visible
• Provides a strong and durable attachment

Glue version

• Installation without drilling or screws
• Clean and discreet appearance
• Large, flat adhesive surface for reliable bonding

Note

Although the dimensions are identical, IKEA ALEX drawers may vary slightly.
It is therefore recommended to print and test a single handle first before producing a full set.

Design Concept

Version 2 focuses on visual refinement and ergonomics while maintaining identical dimensions.
The angled handle integrates seamlessly into the ALEX system, fully hides the original holes, and maintains a clean, minimalist look—even when minor drawer variations are present.
