Welcome to another model, this time a scifi 5-in-1 mech for Kit Crafters Makerworld contest! What started as a relatively simple idea, transformed (buh dum tiss) into this feature-oriented creation.

No AMS, No Supports, No Glue, and No Extra Transformation Parts

Using primarily the origin zero mech joints as a base, I first developed the exosuit/ mantis mech features. I figured it would look better with a pilot mech, so the green Gundam inspired figure was made. Then I had the idea to make the Mantis a standalone heavy support mech on its own, so that's where the oversized mech hands came in handy (last one). If you got this far, here is the breakdown on each mode.

OZ Unit 858, Nicknamed “Seer”

Sporting a standard issue rifle, Seer was capable of average combat mech utilities. The Seer was developed as a base for additional mech upgrades such as the Mantis Exosuit and Crusher limbs.

Although most of the remixing was made to the head, chest, and waist of KitCrafters frame, I'm very happy with how this mech came out, despite it not being the center of this post

OZS Unit “Crusher”

What started as a joke among engineers for wrestling robots, quickly became a tool for mech to ship combat. I mean, how better to tear up ships with some extra large hands. Rumor has it that the Crusher limbs have cross compatibility with other Origin Zero Support gear….

This model was super fun to make, and after assembling my origin zero mech for the first time, I knew i wanted to implement the sturdy hip rotation features into a design.

OZS “Mantis”

The support drone Mantis is an experimental exosuit designed for rapid heavy support for frontline mechs. with its jet mode, the Mantis can quickly reach its desired location. If interference is detected, the Mantis is capable of transforming into a drone mech with limited defense and firepower capabilities. Once attached to the mech it is tasked to support, the Mantis gives its' pilot the ability of extended flight and dual cannon firepower. One rumored feature is its ability to combine with Crusher arms to make a heavy mech escort. Because it has no pilot of its own, it must operate near a piloted mech or command station.

I had so much fun designing this mech and all its features. I wanted to make an exosuit that allowed a mech to have some incredible and dynamic poses, and I think I can say, mission accomplished. It can swap between modes pretty easily and is very sturdy and poseable. My favorite part is how many different poses can be accomplished with the engine and wing parts.

Instructions

Included in the images are “exploded” views of each model. If you have any questions regarding assembly, feel free to comment or send me a message! Crusher fingers are intentionally a little more difficult to assemble, but I never had any breakage issues with the 8 hands I've printed so far. My goal was to provide enough model pictures to make transforming simple, but feel free to ask if it's too difficult. I also included a simple display stand that can be clipped onto the Mantis' extra connection point. Dry filament and clean print beds are always recommended. I printed this in PLA Matter, but PETG would be better for long-term joint fitting, especially if you'll be transforming this frequently.

Hope you all this new creation! If you print this, I'd love to see your completed models and sweet poses. Happy printing!

I really really want to print this for my two boys, although the guns would definitely draw the disapproval of their mother! xD I'll figure something out... Nice work though!

Currently thinking about designing larger, possibly folding wings or articulated thrusters to replace them with. Your idea sounds much less time consuming though! xD
