For my first design of the new year I decided to do another Sailor Moon inspired design! This time I bring you the Spiral Heart Mood Rod featured in the second story arc of the series.
It is a full size replica measuring nearly 18" tall, perfect for both display or cosplay.
Prints without the need for an AMS system and with very few supports which results in very little waste. You will just need glue for assembly. I recommend printing on a smooth plate (like a Holo High-Temp Plate or a Cool Tack plate for example) to make the different halves fit more flush together. For the vertical assembly, due to there being less surface area for bonding, I recommend using a stronger adhesive than just Super Glue, for mine I used the single part epoxy E6000.
Assembly is as follows, it is pretty straightforward so I just used the assembly view I have included in the profile. The cylindrical pegs are used to assemble the front and back pieces and the rectangular pegs are used to assemble the vertical pieces. I have included an extra of each peg and they have a brim to help keep them from getting lost.
Filaments used are BambuLab Basic PLA Gold and Red as well as Colorful Silk Hot Pink and CookieCad Transparent Glitter for the gems.
For the gems, I printed them all in the same transparent filament and then colored the different colors with permanent marker that I sealed before assembly.
