Description

This model is designed exclusively to test how multicolor filaments (such as dual-color and tri-color filaments) behave depending on print orientation.

 

The geometry is a modified octagon, allowing each face to clearly show how the filament’s colors shift from one side to another. Orientation markers are included to make results easy to read and compare:
F (Front), B (Back), R (Right), and L (Left).

 

In addition to the flat faces, the curved sections help evaluate how light reflection and surface gloss change across color transitions, which is especially useful for silk and high-gloss filaments.

Two sizes are included:

  • Large version: 100 mm diameter × 20 mm height (~10 g of filament)
  • Small version: 50 mm diameter × 10 mm height (~3 g of filament)

Both versions use a 1 mm wall thickness, making them fast to print and very economical in terms of material.

Perfect for quickly evaluating filament appearance, choosing the best print orientation, and avoiding surprises in larger decorative prints.

 

Make sure the model is aligned with the build plate directions!

⚠️ This model does NOT test multi-material or multi-filament systems.

  • ❌ Does not map AMS colors
  • ❌ Does not test tool changes
  • ❌ Does not evaluate multi-extruder setups

✅ Intended only for single multicolor filaments (dual color, tri color).

If you are using multiple filaments or an AMS, this model will not reflect color assignment or material switching behavior.
