Description

Eliminate light-bleed and interior glare with this professional-grade, fully customizable window shroud.

This model is a 100% parametric solution for mounting emergency or warning lights to any vehicle window, whether it is perfectly vertical or steeply slanted. While originally designed for the ECCO LL141-B, you can use the MakerWorld Customizer to adjust the dimensions for any lighthead from Whelen, Feniex, Star, or generic brands.

Key Features

  • Window Angle Adjustment: Built-in trigonometry automatically adjusts the enclosure depth to match your window slant (0 to 70 degrees). The lighthead remains perfectly level to ensure maximum visibility to trailing traffic.
  • Customizable Cable Exit: Choose to have your wire exit through the Top, Side, or Back with adjustable offsets to match your specific wiring needs.
  • Integrated Mounting Holes: Includes an option to add screw holes in the back wall. These allow you to bolt the lighthead directly to the box for a secure, permanent installation.
  • Wide Mounting Flange: Features a smooth, rounded flange designed specifically for 1/2 inch (12mm) VHB Tape to ensure a permanent bond to glass.
  • Multi-Purpose Design: Beyond lighting, this parametric box is effective for window-mounting security cameras or creating custom electronics enclosures for automotive use.

How to Customize

  1. Light Dimensions: Enter the Width, Height, and Depth of your unit.
  2. Window Angle: Use a phone level app to find the angle of your glass (0 for vertical).
  3. Mounting Holes: If your lighthead uses rear mounting bolts, enable the screw holes and enter the correct spacing.
  4. Cable Hole: Select your exit location and use the offset slider to move the hole forward or back.
  5. Clearance: Adjust the front gap if you require more space between the LED lens and the glass.

Recommended Print Settings

  • Orientation: Print with the Back Wall flat on the build plate for the best results and to prevent warping.
  • Material: PETG, PCTG, ABS or ASA is highly recommended for automotive use. Standard PLA may soften or warp in a hot vehicle window.
  • Supports: Use Tree (Auto) supports. These are required for the slanted flange but are designed to be easily removed.
  • Walls: 3 to 4 wall loops for maximum durability.

Hardware Needed

  • 3M VHB Tape (12mm): For window mounting.
  • Isopropyl Alcohol: To clean the glass and the flange before application.
