🇬🇧 English – Model Description

I designed this hanger for the IKEA RÖDALM frame (91 × 61 cm) to mount heavy picture frames on tiles and other smooth surfaces without drilling.

The original use case was to hide a fuse box in a guest toilet behind a large and fairly heavy picture frame. Since adhesive strength strongly depends on the available bonding surface, the hanger features a relatively large contact area by design.

Design considerations

  • Suitable for portrait and landscape orientation
  • The hanger does not protrude beyond the frame
  • Designed for heavy frames
  • Optimized for smooth surfaces such as tiles, glass, or painted walls

The front hook is currently about 3 mm thick, which makes it fit quite tightly into the frame’s mounting slot.
If I were to redesign it, I would probably reduce this to 2.5 mm or even 2.0 mm to make mounting slightly easier. That said, the current version works reliably as is.

Mounting notes

  • I used a generous amount of double-sided tape, as visible in the photos.
  • Before mounting, I cleaned both the tile surface and the hanger with alcohol to ensure proper adhesion.

Enjoy the model, and feel free to share feedback or improvements.

🇩🇪 German – Model Description

I designed this hanger for the IKEA RÖTHALM frame (91 × 61 cm) to securely mount heavy picture frames on tiles and other smooth surfaces without drilling.

The original application was to cover a fuse box in the guest toilet with a large, relatively heavy picture frame. Since adhesive strength in bonds is directly related to the adhesive surface area, the hanger was deliberately designed with a large contact area.

Design considerations

  • Suitable for portrait and landscape orientation
  • The hanger does not protrude beyond the frame
  • Stably designed for heavy frames
  • Optimized for smooth surfaces such as tiles, glass, or painted surfaces

The front hook is currently approx. 3 mm thick, and thus fits quite snugly into the frame's receptacle.
If I were to redesign it, I would probably reduce this to 2.5 mm or even 2.0 mm to make hanging it a bit more relaxed. Functionally, however, the current version works without problems.

Mounting instructions

  • I used a generous amount of double-sided tape (see photos).
  • Before bonding, I thoroughly cleaned both the tile and the hanger with alcohol to ensure optimal adhesion.

Enjoy the model – feedback and improvements are, as always, welcome.
