Description
Overview: This is a high-precision 3D-printed replacement for the volume knob of Kenwood car audio units. It is designed to be a perfect fit for units where the original knob has become sticky, damaged, or lost.
Compatibility:
- Tested Model: Kenwood KDC-U40.
- Potential Compatibility: Should fit most Kenwood KDC models (including KDC-U, KDC-BT, and KDC-W series) that use the standard "D-shape" or notched rotary encoder shaft.
Features:
- Perfect Fit: Designed to match the original dimensions for a comfortable grip.
- Easy Installation: Simple push-fit (press-on) design; no glue or tools required.
- Durable Design: Optimized for 3D printing with a focus on the internal shaft's strength.
Print Settings & Recommendations:
- Material: PETG, ABS, or ASA are strongly recommended. Avoid PLA, as it will likely warp or melt inside a hot car during summer.
- Resolution: 0.1mm to 0.15mm for the best surface finish and grip texture.
- Infill: 30-50% (Grid or Gyroid) for a solid feel.
- Supports: Not needed if printed with the face down, though a brim might help with bed adhesion.
